Happy Holiday's!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas shared with family and friends. Now that the kids are not climbing the walls and telling me how many more days until Christmas, there is a new level of calm in the house. I didn't get everything done that I wanted or needed to before the actual Christmas Day. So I am doing it today. I am getting more Christmas cards done and sending my husband to the post office to mail the rest of the packages. So my friends will be getting more presents to open and the line at the post office will be very short. Right? Here is the photo I sent with our Cards this year.
Merry Christmas

Ward Cookbook

I just made persimmon cookies. I found the recipe in the ward cook book by Anna DeMasters. yummy....Persimmon's are a good source of Vitamin A and C. They are really sweet and juicy---I got quite a few in my bountiful basket last week. I am making fruit leather with some too. These cookbooks make great gifts for neighbors, mothers, mother-in-laws and those you visit teach. I still have cookbooks if you want to buy some. They are $4 each. Email me if you want one.

Forget Me Not

Check out this blog post by Artist Cortney Lunt. It is about President Uchtdorf's talk from the 2011 General Women's Conference. You can purchase Cortney's artwork here. Or if you live close to me, I have many of her prints at my house that I can sell to you. These make great Christmas gifts that are affordable.

Sisters of the RED ROCK

I love this photo. Why? I will tell you. This Picture was taken by my husband while waiting for our last runner to come in for the Red Rock Relay. We were all sitting their exhausted. We each ran an average of 16.5 miles. Not much sleep was gained in the car or on the church lawn in Veyo. By looking at the picture you can't tell that we had endured 186 miles via running or in a Dodge Caravan. We look like we are having the time of our lives. It was a time in my life that I was able to get closer to my sister in law Stephanie(the one next to me) and two sisters in my ward Tammi and Lindsey(left to right). I love these girls. We are all wives and mothers with a focus on the finish line.

This was also a time for me to spend 24 hours with my husband. Who thought that planking the official RRR truck would make a good picture. And I have to say that it did.

I love this blog called Shakespear's Stage. I don't know Erin very well, but I love her style and wit. I know her through my friend Sundi and I have been getting to know her better through her blog. I love this post she did on cake plates.

I want you to meet Malinda. She is a wonderful mom of three boys. Her boys each have a unique circumstance with their health. Malinda is one organized person and is never cross. Well, I have never seen her disgruntled. You can read more about her on her blog called Living with a house full of boys.

I took this picture two years ago of my cousins. I grew up with these sisters. I would go and spend a week or two with them during the summer or they would come and spend time with me and my siblings. I remember sleep overs, playing house, playing office, and card games. We pretty much got along like siblings too. I tended to be pretty bossy, because I was the oldest of five. Well, I tried to take control when I was with them too. Needless to say, that didn't always go over so well. So we had our squabbles along with the play.
I love these girls. Now that we are all mothers, I feel like we are partners in crime, as the saying goes. But really we are partners in something bigger. Something that many don't understand, and that is motherhood. I only wish we all lived closer. It is so much fun when we all get together and compare stories and ideas. I will post more on this in the future with a pic of my own sisters.

Happy Crossed Day

I am two days late on this post. The sequel to Matched came out November 1. I went to Barnes and Noble last Saturday in hopes to get my signed copy from Ally. But for some reason, they didn't let Ally sign Crossed yet like we had hoped. But I did get some signed copies of Matched for my friends and saw Ally. I sure love that girl.

Family Values

I have been following this blog for some time now. Called 71 Toes. I saw Shawni on a 'I'm a Mormon' clip and I felt like I already knew her a little bit. I read one of her parents (Richard and Linda Eyre) books (Teaching Your Children Values) while taking a child development class in College.
Some many years later after I had the twins (I had four children under the age of 4) my friend loaned me a book called, A Joyful Mother of Children, by Linda Eyre. The book was full of good advice and experiences as a young mom. However, it was written in 1983 and I wanted more of what she had to say for the new millennium. So, I did a little research and found a newer version called, A Joyful Mother of Children-The magic and mayhem of Motherhood. I liked this one just as well and so I loaned it to a couple friends and then never got it back.
When we lived in Oxford England, I met a girl named Eva. She is from Bulgaria and just happened to live with the Eyres while she was attending the University of Utah. Eva always talked of the Eyres and how they influenced not only her life but others. I will do a post on Eva in the near future.
Furthermore, I have liked following 71 toes and get great ideas on family, house, and parenting issues.

Good Healthy Food

Is it safe to say that we all like to eat. But do we all like to eat healthy? I love to eat a good meal and feel so much better when it is homemade and contains something from each food group. Here is a blog that encourages healthy eating and focuses on people with Fibromyalgia. Click here to view blog.

Those of you who know Arianne, know that she is an amazing mother. She would deny this statement, because she is humble. Her blog called Still Parenting(click here), has wonderful wisdom. Arianne has put her writing skills to good use by blogging for others to read. Reading her posts is like reading poetry. I also LOVE the photos that she takes, each picture speaks volumes. Go on over and check out her adventures and wisdom as a wife and mother.

I have know Cortney since my newly married years back in the 90's. Yes, I am getting old. Cortney and I have been able to trade talents through out the years. She paints portraits of my kids and I make her quilts for her kids. I think I get the better end of the deal. You can find her website here. I also have her temple prints at my house for sale and I can sale them for cheaper than the website.

Kelli is another with a great blog on home, food, sewing, and decorating. Pretty Lil' Posies is the name of her blog, you will have to check it out. She hasn't posted for a while but you can catch up on past postings.

Ally Braithwaite Condie has been one my friends since high school. I Love Her. She is now a famous author, and I can say that I know her. I made the watch for her last year when her book Matched was published. The picture of us is at The King's English in SLC at her launch party. My family was going to Salt Lake for a baptism and I stopped in and surprised her. It was so much fun. I saw many old friends and my daughter's were able to meet Ally. Now the sequel to the book CROSSED is coming out November 1. You can pre-order it here. I was privileged enough to read CROSSED, a few months ago and loved it. It was entertaining and well written.

Chandra and her twin sister Collette have a business making crochet hats and hair accessories called Collective Creations. The hat that you see in my profile picture is one made by them. I love their style and wish I could buy all of it. They have an etsy shop, which makes buying easy.

My friend and neighbor Sundi has a blog The Life of A Cheap Chickadee. It is full of great ideas for cheap (hence the name). Anyone who knows Sundi, knows she has class and an eye for great style. She is one that puts ideas into action.

A New Blog

Hello all,
I am starting this blog to network those with talents and share some of my everyday living. I am the Relief Society President in my ward; (I belong to the Church Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) this does not mean that I am perfect. I want to share some of my thoughts and I have many sisters in my ward with talents and businesses. I am using this as an unofficial site for my sisters (not just in my ward) to share. Some don't know that I am sharing their talents. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love helping out friends with selling and showing off their stuff. I love viewing blogs and getting ideas, but the ideas always seem to stay ideas for me. I have a hard time putting them into play with my schedule. When I get a free moment I rather read a book or watch something on netflix than pull out the sewing machine or paints, because this just creates a mess---- and I just got done cleaning up messes. I will be highlighting my old friends meaning we have been friends a long time and we are still sisters in Relief Society. Most all of my friends I have been in Relief Society with at one time or another. At the side are links to the fabulous talent's that I have the pleasure of being acquainted with.
